Three Tiers for Thanksgiving!

We hosted a crowd last Thanksgiving, so to make sure everyone got exactly what they wanted I made a three tier cake with three different flavors.  The largest tier was chocolate cake with chocolate orange ganache and orange buttercream.  The middle tier was lemon cake with homemade lemon curd.  The top tier was a festive pumpkin spice cake with cinnamon cream cheese buttercream.  All three were crowd pleasers.

Roses and Ruffles

Another chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and raspberry filling.  The chocolate and raspberry combo is really a winner.  All decorations are done in butter cream.

Chocolate Roses

I’ve been looking for an excuse to play with modeling chocolate.  I couldn’t really find one, so I made a cake.  That’s a good excuse, right?  Just a small one.  6″ round two layer white cake with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream under rolled fondant.  Fondant bow.  Chocolate roses.  They were so much fun to make, I’ll need to find another excuse to do it again soon.

I’m baking for my husbands work again.  What can I say, I love to bake, but I really shouldn’t be eating everything that comes out of my oven.  It’s nice to have such a willing and eager crowd to cater to.  This was for the birthday of one of the nurses that my husband works with.  Dark chocolate cake with raspberry filling and vanilla butter cream frosting.

And with just a little bit of left over batter, I made some cupcakes for the kids.  They love it when I bake, and are always so disappointed when it’s for someone else and they don’t get any.  This time they lucked out!
